Having just celebrated Pentecost, we were reminded that the coming of the Holy Spirit is an everyday event. The Holy Spirit moves in and through us, calling us to live into our gifts, to share ourselves with the world.

Psalm 104 also reminds us that it is by the breath of the Spirit that we are created, and it is to that creative presence that we turn for guidance and inspiration.

Let us turn again to the movements of the Spirit as we reflect on these verses.

Psalm 104:27-30:

These all look to you
to give them their food in due season;
when you give to them, they gather it up;
when you open your hand, they are filled with good things.
When you hide your face, they are dismayed;
when you take away their breath, they die
and return to their dust.
When you send forth your spirit, they are created;
and you renew the face of the ground.

Holy Breath, you fill us with life anew. With your creative power, you call to us as co-creators to aid in the work.
To feed those who are hungry.
To embrace those who feel lost and alone.
To extend a hand to those who have fallen.
With your breath, impart on us a fraction of your strength to accomplish your life-giving deeds.

Even as we pray for the wind of your transforming love to blow across this world, we also pray to carry that love as partners.

Empower us. Breathe into us again. Guide us. AMEN
