Saint Andrew’s Presbyterian & St. Paul’s United
From the desk of Rev. Michelle…
First off, today I want to remind you to please bring back the two-question survey that was in your bulletin last Sunday and put it in the basket at the back of the sanctuary! If you lost yours, don’t worry, there are copies on the communion table beside the basket. Your participation and thoughts will help us discern the work we are called to do and articulate who we are together as one faith community. For anyone who missed the questions, here they are again.
1) In two or three sentences, why does the Church (the Church as in the worldwide Church, not just our local congregation) exist?
2) What is the most important thing for our local congregation to be doing?
Your voice and participation are critical to the success of this process, so Thank You in advance for participating and returning your survey. If you would prefer, you can email your answers to Erin Webb at horncastle2732@gmail.com by Tuesday, May 20th.
This week, there will be no Sunday School program as our Sunday School teacher and relief teachers are all away. If you are bringing children or see children on Sunday, please welcome them and help them find the pew activities clipboards. The pew activities clipboards are located in the bathroom side vestibule. Also, don’t forget to let them know our program will be back next week.
Speaking of next week, we will be celebrating the sacrament of Baptism as we welcome baby Lillee, daughter of Sandra and Jim. You may have already met her over the last few weeks after service during coffee time. Following the service there will be a time of coffee and conversation, for those who are from St. Paul’s we asked that you take a short break and then join us back in the sanctuary for the AGM (St. Andrew’s AGM will be June 8th). I do hope that you will join us for this full Sunday as we celebrate what has been and the hope to which we are called.
This week, while on Continuing Education, I have been engaged in peer learning as the reGenerate cohort presented on how they have used the skills we have been given over the last year and a half in their contexts to bring change. It is inspiring to see the ways in which the Holy Spirit is working across the church to bring growth and help the ministry of the Church flourish. Hearing these stories, nobody could deny that there is a future just waiting for the Church writ large. And here is the thing I want to leave you with this day, you are part of the congregations in which the Spirit is moving, revealing a new future. The work that we have been doing and the journey we have all been on have also inspired others to say God is good, and see the ways God is bringing new life. In this place God is still writing God’s story!
I hope that you have a great rest of your week, and as we all head towards the weekend, let us pray,
God of the springtime,
We give thanks for the ways that you are at work in the world,
Especially in this season of renewed growth.
We are in awe of the ways that the buds unfurl, abundantly filling the trees with green,
The flowers that boldly proclaim their is goodness in the world,
And the warm weather and longer days that call us out of our tombs and into the light.
Thank you, God, for these gifts and guide us forward in your life and love.
Amen.
